Hi, My name is J.D. Darley and I am founder, owner, and CEO of DMR Productions. Let me start off by saying that DMR Productions is more than just a Company for me, but a passion that has been bubbling below the surface of my consciousness since I was in high school. I am forty years old now so that should tell you how long this has been waiting to come to fruition. I am proud of this company and what it represents. So let’s talk about DMR Productions for a minute.
I am a recovered alcoholic who does his best to practice life on a Spiritual basis. I do not do it perfectly and that’s a good thing considering the only thing I have ever been perfect at is being an Alcoholic. I do not shy away from this title because it is who I am and that is okay. I like who I am today and I would not be who I am without also embracing my alcoholism as part of my truth. I have the opportunity in my life to come in contact with a lot of people who have had a lot of experience with addiction. One friend in particular had been a very talented musician with a very positive future prior to his downward spiral in to drug addiction. Once he had gone through rehabilitation and embraced a lifestyle of Recovery life began to take a positive direction and it was time to reconsider his musical career. This was not an easy decision for him due to the fact that he had not always been very proud of his behavior prior to Recovery.
Now most would assume that this would mainly be around the drug use, but most addicts and alcoholics discover that even minus the substance, their behaviors are selfish and self-centered. In a one word description…they are…Assholes. This friend was no exception and he did not want to revisit that aspect of his past. It would have been a shame for him to have closed the door on so much potential musical success based on exceptional talent. So one day I walked up to him and gave him two names and told him to pick which one he liked and that would be the name of his band. The one he picked was “Garage Sale Poets”. Come to find out, his drummer and keyboard player still wanted to work with him and he asked me if I would like to manage the band. I was honored and I connected to the other two members instantly.
I had managed a band in high school and it has always been a dream for me to be a rockstar. The problem with that is that to be a rockstar you need this thing called talent and apparently I do not have any of that. So the next best thing is to help others achieve that dream. I am a talker. I am a businessman. I know what appeals to others musically and I know people and what drives them. In a nutshell, I can make dreams happen. To do that though I needed something to give me credibility, therefore, DMR Productions was born.
Since its establishment on October 28th, 2011 a lot of cool things have happened. I am representing four different acts with several more coming down the pike. I have the honor of working with Texas Legend and dear Friend Jon Dee Graham. We will be a part of producing and recording his newest Album. I am now 30% partner in a state of the art recording studio being built in Hutto Texas and I get to be partners in the studio with two of my dearest friends who have accomplished very cool things with their lives. My wonderful, supportive, intelligent, and beautiful wife, Sherri St. George Darley is my partner in life and my partner in DMR Productions. She is the most talented web developer in the business and she has forgotten more about internet marketing than most of the douche bags out there will ever know. She has taken some time away from her own very successful business Hutto Web Services, www.huttowebservices.com, to help put the icing on the DMR Cake.
So, here we go. Keep checking in on us as we trudge forward in this endeavor and I do not think you will be disappointed. This is going to be a lot of fun…I promise.
